about photo walks

I’m very excited to announce I'll be hosting a few 1-hr winter photography meetups this year! This time of year can be so sluggish and uninspiring for us creatives, so all the more reason to get outside to find inspiration in nature and other photographers in the area. If you’ve ever wanted to connect with me and take some sunrise or sunset photos of the lake this is your opportunity.

Join me at Bde Maka Ska Lake for a sunset photo walk on 32nd St Beach. Sunset is around 5:20-:30. Arrive early to mingle and learn how to take gorgeous ICM (intentional camera movement) photos.
Select a photo you took on the walk to submit and be eligible to win a $25 Pizza Lucé gift card and 3 month subscription to my exclusive members-only Patreon.

I hope to see you there, don’t forget to dress warm.

Free. No registration required.

All ages and skill levels welcome.

LGBTQ+.

Weather permitting.

Dates subject to change.

Note: I’ll be shooting with my Sony a7iv and 35mm f/1.4 lens. Any digital or film camera with manual settings is fine to bring. I highly recommend traveling light on gear and wearing spikes if you want to walk on the ice. The beach shouldn’t be slippery, but it is Minnesota and a lot can happen so keep an eye on the weather forecast. All notices regarding weather will be posted here and on Instagram.

REMEMBER ice is never 100% safe and you travel on it at your own risk. It is highly encouraged to wear spikes/cleats/cramp-ons, never go alone, wear a flotation device, and carry an ice pick.

FAQs

Q: Can I bring my pet?

A: Dogs and cats are welcome! As long as they remain on leash. Please keep your dog leashed at all times and cats must remain in their carriers.

Q: I don't own a nice camera. Can I just use my phone?

A: Yes, however a camera with manual settings and the ability to shoot uncompressed RAW is necessary for ICM (intentional camera movement).

Q: How do I enter to win $25?

A: Click here to view the Google Drive folder and select the date you attended. Attending more than one photo walk means more submissions, and an increased chance of winning!
